What is the Japanese Yuzu?

Yuzu is a Japanese citrus fruit that is currently making big waves in the culinary world in Western and European Country.  It tastes like a cross between a lemon, lime, mandarin, orange and grapefruit. 

How to cook and bake with Yuzu?

Yuzu has a very strong flavour, and depending on your usage, just little may be needed to pack a punch. In drinks, a little goes a very long way.  Yuzu also has infinite applications in sweet recipes, where it’s best used like an essence.

Some other uses for yuzu include:

  • Cocktails and Sake

  • Japanese-style of clear based soups

  • Ponzu sauce (Vinegar Soy Sause)

  • Salad dressings, yuzu salt and mayonnaise
